Viva El Indie

Broken Asphalt started out not in the garage of a house like most bands or indie projects, nor in a college dorm like Facebook, but in the car driving from Ohio to Georgia. This humble website just started out as a way of getting generally apathetic teenagers (like this writer) to actually care about their future and the direction their world was heading in by way of politics and power-plays. Several thousand hits later and the website branched out to encompass indie and otherwise unknown bands struggling to make it big. Why focus on these hardworking guys and girls? Well, the answer is quite simple. Broken Asphalt and the people that keep this site running work their collective butts off to get the website to where it is today, so we really sympathize with people doing the same thing. Call it karma, but if we could just help one struggling band by telling their story to the rest of the world, then we've done our job well.

A small sampling of bands we've interviewed in the past: News Day Georgia (Argentina), A-Gain, At Our Expense, For the Perilous, Holly Go Lightly, Chasing Autumn, The Garlics (the ones from Canada), Merry-Go (UK), Truth and Salvage Co. and Skyrocket Love.

As Broken Asphalt has evolved over the years, we've also added a store to our site, selling urban clothing and streetwear for both men and women, indie fashion accessories, and of course, not forgetting band merch, some designed exclusively by Broken Asphalt or the artists themselves. Look at our A-Gain shirts, if you buy them, a portion of the sale will be going back to Greece, where the band lives. We are also doing the same for other bands such as News Day Georgia and For The Perilous; freshly designed merch are featured on our website constantly, so check back in often and see what we have in store for you from the indie world.
